Dailey & Vincent Debut at #4 on Bluegrass Unlimited Album Chart

April 11, 2008
Dailey & Vincent have debuted at #4 on the Bluegrass Unlimited National Bluegrass Survey album chart in the April 2008 issue with their self-titled album on Rounder Records. At the same time, the critically acclaimed disc has spent its seventh week in the top 5 on Billboard’s Top Bluegrass Albums chart, where it debuted at #2. On the Bluegrass Music Profiles Top 10 Bluegrass CD’s chart for April, Dailey & Vincent is at #2, and on the XM Bluegrass Junction Top 40 albums, it moves to #3 on the April chart (representing airplay during the month of March).

“By the Mark,” performed in brother duo style with only guitar and mandolin accompaniment, was a 4-week #1 on the Count Down Yonder Weekly Top 17 Songs of SIRIUS Bluegrass. In Bluegrass Unlimited, the track is at #28 on the song chart, while on the Bluegrass Music Profiles Top 20 Hot Singles for April, it is at #13. “Sweet Carrie” is another favorite track receiving healthy airplay, landing it this month at #10 on the XM Bluegrass Junction Top 30 Tracks chart, #12 on the Bluegrass Music Profiles Top 20 Hot Singles chart, and #17 on the Bluegrass Unlimited song chart.

This week Dailey & Vincent also earned Robert K. Oermann’s DISCovery Award in Music Row, where he wrote: “The woods used to be full of duo-led bluegrass bands. But The Osborne Brothers, Reno & Smiley, Jim & Jesse, The Stanley Brothers and Flatt & Scruggs are now all history. Dailey & Vincent have stepped into those legendary shoes. And they wear them very, very well.”

Nick Cristiano of the Philadelphia Inquirer wrote in a recent review of Dailey & Vincent, “Together, they carve out their own niche in the field with this bracing debut.”

Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent make their second guest appearance on the Grand Ole Opry on Friday, April 25. On April 26 they will join the Bill Gaither & The Homecoming Friends concert at Gwinnett Center Arena in Duluth, Georgia. Dailey and Vincent spend second week at #2 on Billboard Bluegrass Album Charts

February 18, 2008
DAILEY & VINCENT SPEND SECOND WEEK AT #2 ON BILLBOARD BLUERASS ALBUMS CHART

"By the Mark" Remains at #1 for Fourth Consecutive Week on SIRIUS Bluegrass

NASHVILLE, TENN. (February 19, 2008)—Dailey & Vincent remain at #2 for a second consecutive week on Billboard's Top Bluegrass Albums chart (Feb. 23 issue) with their self-titled debut on Rounder Records. Also in the February 23 issue, there is a feature story by Ken Tucker, "Vincent Siblings Make Bluegrass Chart History," which verifies that Darrin and Rhonda Vincent have made country and bluegrass chart history as siblings holding the top two spots on the chart.

At the same time, the duo watched their song "By the Mark" remain at #1 for the fourth consecutive week on the Count Down Yonder Weekly Top 17 Songs of SIRIUS Bluegrass.

Dailey & Vincent also had the dubious distinction of being part of Kansas City history on Sunday, when they were stranded at the airport during the longest closure in its 35-year history. The delay, caused by snow and ice, forced Dailey & Vincent to cancel their performance at the Joe Val Bluegrass Festival. "We're so disappointed about missing our performance at Joe Val," said Jamie Dailey. "It's a great festival to be a part of, and we were really looking forward to seeing everyone there."

Dailey & Vincent are currently featured in cover stories in Bluegrass Now (February) and Bluegrass Music Profiles (March/April), where their album is at #7 on the Top 10 Bluegrass CDs chart for February.

This weekend Dailey & Vincent will perform at Bluegrass First Class in Asheville, North Carolina (Feb. 22) and at the Gateway City Bluegrass Festival in St. Louis (Feb. 23). For additional information and touring updates, visit www.daileyvincent.com or www.myspace.com/thedaileyvincentband.

Dailey & Vincent Debut at #2 on Billboard's Bluegrass Chart

February 8, 2008
DAILEY & VINCENT DEBUT AT #2 ON BILLBOARD’S BLUEGRASS CHART AS “BY THE MARK” REMAINS AT #1 ON SIRIUS BLUEGRASS COUNTDOWN

NASHVILLE, TENN. (February 8, 2008)—Dailey & Vincent, the critically-acclaimed new duo on Rounder Records, debuted at #2 this week on Billboard’s Top Bluegrass Albums chart with their self-titled debut release (chart date February 16). A pairing of well-known bluegrass musicians and vocalists Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent, the duo is garnering high praise for their self-produced 12-song set, and earning a reputation for thrilling crowds with their live shows.

Rounder Records co-founder Ken Irwin said, “To the best of my recollection, this is the first time that siblings fronting two different performing groups have occupied the #1 and #2 positions on the Billboard bluegrass chart,” referring to Rhonda Vincent, whose Good Thing Going is at #1, and her brother Darrin, who is the Vincent of Dailey & Vincent. In addition, Darrin is the co-producer of both CD’s.

Dailey & Vincent are also celebrating the fact that “By the Mark,” the hauntingly beautiful gospel number on their album which has captured the attention of critics and fans alike, remains at #1 for a second week on the Count Down Yonder Weekly Top 17 Songs of SIRIUS Bluegrass.

Dailey & Vincent performed yesterday at the Palatka Bluegrass Festival in Palatka, Florida, and will take the stage tonight (February 8) in front of a sold-out crowd at Randy Wood’s Concert Hall in Bloomingdale, Georgia, before making their way to Everett’s Barn in Suwanee, Georgia (February 9). The rest of their itinerary for February includes performances at the Joe Val Bluegrass Festival in Framingham, Massachusetts (February 17), Bluegrass First Class in Asheville, North Carolina (February 22), and the Gateway City Bluegrass Festival in St. Louis (February 23). Dailey & Vincent Top Sirius Bluegrass Chart

January 30, 2008
DAILEY & VINCENT TOP SIRIUS BLUEGRASS CHART WITH

“BY THE MARK”

#1 Song a Stand-Out Track on Duo’s Self-Titled Debut, In Stores on January 29

NASHVILLE, TENN. (January 25, 2008)—New powerhouse duo Dailey & Vincent has reached the top of this week’s Count Down Yonder Weekly Top 17 Songs of SIRIUS Bluegrass, just days before releasing their self-titled debut on Rounder Records. “By the Mark,” written by Gillian Welch and David Rawlings and recorded with only Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent’s vocals, guitar and mandolin, has been a stand-out track noted by reviewers and programmers, and a crowd-pleasing number during their live show. The duo chose “By the Mark” as the first song they sang during their Grand Ole Opry debut on December 29.

“We are so thankful to have found this song, which is deeply meaningful to us and seems to strike a chord with everyone who hears it,” said Jamie Dailey. “Thanks to everyone who requested ‘By the Mark’ and supported Dailey & Vincent.”

Dailey & Vincent, a 12-song set featuring a broad spectrum of traditional bluegrass, country and gospel sounds, unified by the duo’s breath-taking vocal strength and harmony as well as their virtuosic musicianship, will be released on January 29. Dailey and Vincent celebrated the release with an industry party at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum in Nashville earlier this week, where their five-song performance resulted in two standing ovations. They were guests of Eddie Stubbs on 650 AM WSM on Tuesday, January 22, and the coming week will find them doing interviews with Ned Luberecki of SIRIUS Satellite Radio, Kyle Cantrell of XM’s Bluegrass Junction, and David Higgs’ Bluegrass Breakdown on WPLN/Nashville. They will also perform on February 1 at Nashville’s famed Station Inn and on February 2 during SPBGMA’s 34th Annual Bluegrass Awards and 25th National Convention, held at the Music City Sheraton.

Dailey & Vincent, which was also produced by the duo, has earned early praise:

“ . . . powerful combination of effusive vocals and fiery instrumentals . . .”

Steven Stone, Vintage Guitar

“A brilliant 12-song tour de force, the CD heralds the two talented artists making high lonesome magic with flawless picking and seamless harmonies on a thoughtful collection of secular and sacred songs.”

Jack Bernhardt, Raleigh News & Observer

“Dailey & Vincent is as close to a perfect bluegrass CD as I think I’ve ever heard.”

Brance Gillihan, The Bluegrass Blog

GRAND OLE OPRY DEBUT

December 28, 2007
DAILEY & VINCENT TO MAKE GRAND OLE OPRY DEBUT ON DECEMBER 29

New Rounder Records Duo Will Release Self-Titled Debut on January 29

NASHVILLE, TENN. (December 14, 2007)—Dailey & Vincent, the highly-anticipated new bluegrass duo on Rounder Records, will make their Grand Ole Opry debut on December 29 at the Ryman Auditorium. Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent have performed on the Opry several times before—Jamie as lead vocalist for Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver and Darrin as a member of Ricky Skaggs’ Kentucky Thunder band--but on December 29 they will make their Opry debut as a duo, taking to the revered stage and performing songs from their self-titled debut. The CD is scheduled for a January 29 release.

“What a wonderful Christmas present for us!” said Vincent. “It’s always an honor and a humbling experience playing on the Opry, and to have this performance launch our career as a duo really makes it special.”

Dailey & Vincent will begin their first concert tour on January 5, 2008, at the New Year’s Bluegrass Festival in Jekyll Island, Georgia. Interestingly, it was at the same festival in 1999 that Dailey began his nine-year tenure with Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver. Before performing together publicly, Dailey & Vincent had already booked over 100 dates for 2008. Taking to the road with them are: Jeff Parker on mandolin; Joe Dean on banjo, guitar and mandolin; and Adam Haynes on fiddle.

Dailey & Vincent have already earned high praise for their debut effort, with Dolly Parton saying, “What a great sound. Not since the Louvin Brothers has music touched me this deep.” Dan Tackett at Bluegrassjournal.com writes, “it’s really, really, really the real deal — dead-on bluegrass that smokes, a slight touch of classic country that soothes, some pretty heavy gospel messages that make one pause and reflect. It’s all here in one package . . . People who are becoming fans of the group before the duo even officially hits the road are going to have a melt-down over the CD’s vocal efforts. They are tops, bar none, with the kind of high, crystal clear harmonies that produce goose-bumps and threaten to crack fine glassware.”

Dailey and Vincent on latest Gaither Homecoming DVD

December 2, 2007
*NEW BLUEGRASS DUO DAILEY & VINCENT TO JOIN BILL GAITHER AND FRIENDS FOR

Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent performed four songs from their
self-titled Rounder debut-"By the Mark," "Place on Calvary" "I Believe" and "More Than a Name on a Wall." Their album is slated for a January 29 release.

Hosted by Bill Gaither, the DVD featured performances by some of the

CD Release

November 13, 2007
Rounder Records will release the self-titled debut from new bluegrass duo Dailey & Vincent on January 29, 2008. The creation of acclaimed vocalists and musicians Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent, who also produced it, the 12-song set features a broad spectrum of traditional bluegrass, country and gospel sounds, unified by their breath-taking vocal strength and harmony as well as their virtuosic musicianship. While not related by blood, Dailey & Vincent invite favorable comparisons to the best in brother duo singing, including the Stanley Brothers, the Osborne Brothers and Jim and Jesse.

The power of Dailey & Vincent’s duo singing is stunningly revealed in the David Rawlings/Gillian Welch gospel number “By the Mark,” as well as the tender “My Savior Walks With Me Today,” written by Dailey and former employer Doyle Lawson. It is further evident in “Music of the Mountains,” written by Ronnie Bowman, Bob Minner and David Dunkley.

Pure, rapid-fire bluegrass with fleet-fingered picking and high lonesome singing flows through the album, from the beginning notes of Al Wood’s “Sweet Carrie,” through Randall Hylton’s “Cumberland River,” to “Poor Boy Workin’ Blues,” written by Dailey, and “Don’t You Call My Name,” by Herb Campbell. Sweet harmonies convey the heartache and yearning of Robert Gateley’s “River of Time” and “Take Me Back (and Leave Me There),” co-written by Ron Harbin, Philip Douglas, Lisa Shaffer and Doug Johnson.

Three songs on the album reflect the influence of the Statler Brothers, particularly tenor Jimmy Fortune. The moving “More Than a Name on a Wall,” written by Fortune and John Rimel, was a hit for the Statlers in 1989, and Dailey & Vincent felt a strong connection to its sentiments. They were honored to perform the song with Fortune last week at the opening ceremony prior to the reading of all the names on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington. Dailey & Vincent also tapped into the wealth of Fortune’s song catalog by recording the powerful “I Believe.” The album closes with “Place on Calvary,” a rousing gospel song written by Langdon Reid that features quartet singing. The Statlers recorded the song in 2002 and performed it during their farewell concert.

The fact that Dailey & Vincent is so eagerly anticipated a debut is no doubt a result of Jamie and Darrin’s formidable experience and acclaimed contributions to the music of stellar performers including Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Dolly Parton, and Darrin’s sister, Rhonda Vincent. During Dailey’s nine-year tenure as Lawson’s lead singer and guitarist, the band earned 13 IBMA Awards, including Vocal Group of the Year from 2001-2007. As harmony vocalist and multi-instrumentalist with Skaggs’ Kentucky Thunder band for ten years, Vincent earned five Grammy® Awards and eight IBMA Awards for Instrumental Group of the Year. He also earned three Grammy nominations for co-producing Rhonda’s One Step Ahead, Ragin’ Live and All American Bluegrass Girl, and his other production credits include Susie Luchsinger’s Dove Award-nominated Count It All Joy, The Cherryholmes’ Bluegrass Vagabonds, and Hunter Berry’s Wow Baby.

Since hearing is believing, brief clips from the following songs from Dailey & Vincent are available by clicking the link below: “More Than a Name on a Wall,” “By the Mark,” “Poor Boy Workin’ Blues” and “Cumberland River.”

Washington, D.C. - The Reading of the Names, the four-day event during which the over 58,000 names inscribed on The Wall are read, will take place on Nov. 7-10 at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial as part of the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of The Wall, announced Jan C. Scruggs, founder and president of the Memorial Fund.

“The Reading of the Names is a remembrance of every individual who served and sacrificed,” said Scruggs. “It's 58,256 loved ones, relatives and friends who couldn't be here with us today.”

The four days of readings will open with a Nov. 7 ceremony at the Memorial beginning at 3:00 p.m. Gordon Mansfield, Acting Secretary of Veterans Affairs, will be the keynote speaker.

Debut Review

October 8, 2007
History was made last weekend as Dailey & Vincent took the stage for their debut at the Nashville Convention Center for the 2007 IBMA Fan Fest.

Fortunately, I had great seats for the Saturday evening performance (center section, probably fifteen rows from the stage). The band made their entrance to a warm reception by those in attendance. From the first note, it was difficult to tell that this was a new band. Professionals at their finest; excellent content, flawless technique, born performers. The band's performance is guided by great instrumentalists, strong vocals, accompanied by plenty of energy and personality.

One highlight of the evening was provided by a special guest. Jimmy Fortune, of The Statler Brothers, made a surprise appearance to sing one of their old songs, Elizabeth, with Jamie and Darrin.

The band completed their twenty-five minute set to a room filled with people on their feet, applauding the spectacular new group. Hearing the audience reaction after the band had left the stage, the show's organizer insisted that they return for an encore.

Many stopped by the Dailey & Vincent table after the show to congratulate and praise the members. Photos and autographs continued for nearly an hour overwhelming the band with gratitude.

Thank you to all for making this such a special event and memorable night for Dailey & Vincent.

Sneak Peek!

October 3, 2007
Although they do not begin touring until January, Dailey & Vincent will make their debut at the upcoming IBMA Fan Fest. Look for them at the Nashville Convention Center on the Main Stage, Saturday, October 6 at 6:40PM.

Big News!

May 9, 2007
Dailey & Vincent update! The guys have partnered with manager, Don Light, of Don Light Talent in Nashville. Mr. Light is a powerful force in the world of music and the band is proud to have him on board. He is already hard at work pushing the band in a positive direction.

The band was in the studio recently working on their first recording. I had the privilege of hearing some of the first sounds produced by Dailey & Vincent and all I can say is...WOW!

It seems as though the word is out about our guys. Nashville's NBC affiliate, WSMV, was also in the studio. They were there to record and interview the band for an upcoming installment of Nashville Music and More, a show airing Saturdays at 6:30pm on Channel 4 in Nashville. I'll be sure to post as soon as we hear a date.
